Help with Marriage and Relationships
A family structure can be the source of reassurance, support, love and can be an important part of your psychological health, however, when family members are put under strain feeling alone and nowhere to go or anyone to confide in, this is where families begin to break down. Family counselling focuses on trying to find solutions and bringing the family together each one having their say and sharing their feelings should they wish to in a peaceful, relaxed and safe environment. It can help when for example parents have decided to divorce or separate, helping all involved cope in the best of ways with successful results and a platform to move on.
Family counselling can help and enable each member of the family build stronger and meaningful relationships helping each member of the family to communicate better and work together as a sold family unit. Family therapy helps to recognize the negative communications or cycles that can begin to emerge within family structures and to de-escalate these and then rebuild positive cycles of interaction, so that together the family can become stronger and more unified turning towards each other again rather than away from each other. Family therapy can also help deal with an issue or problem that belongs to one member of a family or one that everyone is experiencing. It is a very good opportunity for a group conversation in a supportive and relaxed environment that helps you see new ways through together as a unified support system. Family therapy is not just for adults but is also very effective at helping struggling children or adolescents.
It is not absolutely necessary that you are experiencing great difficulties to be able to attend family therapy however it is very useful in order to make sure things are on track as a stable family structure. If not all members’ of a family who are affected wish to attend it is also possible to make a start with those family members who are willing to take part.
